Abstract
Background: Students are members of the community who are trying to develop themselves through the educational process on certain paths and levels of educat ion. Adolescents adjust themselves most easily by following the values and rules applied in the surrounding environment. One of many negative behaviors that are carried out is bullying behavior that occurs in the school environment. The impact of bullying can lead to physical injury and psychological health. Purpose: To find out the differences bullying behavior between male and female students at Depok Muhammadiyah 3 Junior High School of Sleman Yogyakarta. Research Method: This study used comparative study design. The time approach used cross sectional approach. The sampling used probability sampling technique with Simple Random Sampling method. The number of samples in this study was 162 respondents. The samples were VII class students, grade VIII both male and female students. This study used questionnaires. The analytical method used statistical nonparametric test using Mann-Whitney test. Research Results: Bullying behavior of male students were (50%), in the high category (1.2%), medium category (6.8%) and low category (42%), while bulling behavior of female students were (50%) bullying behavior in the low category (45.1), medium category (3.7%) and high category (1.2%). The analysis of Mann-Whitney test showed p-value of 0.256. Conclusion and Suggestion: There is no difference of bullying behavior between male and female students in Depok Muhammadiyah 3 Junior High School of Sleman Yogyakarta by Mann-Whitney, the results of this study obtained coefficient of pvalue of 0.256> 0.05. The results of this study are expected to provide an overview of bullying behavior between male and female students to avoid the impact of bullying behavior
