Abstract

Background: Learning is a physical process occurring within an active interaction between the human and their environment that produce constant or stable changes on the knowledge, skill, and attitude. The factors that influence the learning process are physic, psychology, maturity, practice, intelligence, family and school environment, and mass media. On the other hand, the factors that influence the dysmenorrheal are psychic, constitution, cervical canal obstruction, endocrine and allergy. Purpose: This research aims to know the correlation between dysmenorrheal and the learning process of the third semester students of the Diploma III Midwifery of ‘Aisyiyah Health Sciences College of Yogyakarta year 2010. Methodology: This research used the analytical survey method with the cross sectional approach for the time and purposive sampling technique for the sample collection technique. The population in this research was the third semester students of the Diploma III Midwifery of ‘Aisyiyah Health Sciences College of Yogyakarta. There were 253 students. The research was conducted from October 2010 up to the end of this research in July 2011. Result: The data analysis was conducted using the computer by applying the statistic test of Kendall Tau. The result showed that there was a correlation between the dysmenorrheal and the learning process of the third semester students of the Diploma III Midwifery of ‘Aisyiyah Health Sciences College of Yogyakarta year 2010. The correlation value was -0,314 with the significance of 0.041. Conclusion: The recommendation is that the students should be able to cease away the perception of the dysmenorrheal during the learning process so there is no reason for them to skip the activities especially the learning activities; therefore the students can follow the class well.
